Finale 2012

Dumb question for a 10 year plus user, but my printer has asked that I show inst names on all pages of my parts, not just the first. Reduces errors while he's taping parts. There's got to be an option somewhere but I'll be darned if I can find it...
Any suggestions?
Thanks
David

In the part, select the Text Tool, right click the handle of the part name, and choose Edit Frame Attributes.  In the "Frame Attributes" dialog box, in the Attach To area (top area), choose "All Pages" from the dropdown for the "Page:" radio button.

You will also find an assortment of other options relating to the text frame.

The giant instrument name that Finale puts on the first page might look funny on subsequent pages. I put a centered header at the top of the page with the instrument name in 12-point text, and assign this from page 2 on. There is an text insert that will insert the proper instrument name in each part.

This is what I do as well.

If the composer says in effect to the performer: "I do not care whether you perform my music or not," we cannot argue the matter. But if he indicates: "I want you to perform and respond to this music," then his fundamental duty is to write his music so that it is accessible to interpretation. When the performer cannot approach the composer's meaning because of capriciously obscure notation, he may in effect say to the composer: "Why should I bother to puzzle out your music?" - Gardner Read

Me too; I usually add the title and page number as well.

I don't quite understand what you mean by a "giant instrument name", unless you consider TNR/14 to be giant (default document).  There are of course an infinite variety of ways to do format and place such a text block.

14 is still a little large to put on every page, but I guess I've changed mine to 18 point, so I retract the "giant." The placement at the left on page 1 is kind of like a title, though, and seems an inappropriate place to put it on subsequent pages.

Looks like the 18-point instrument name is what older versions of Finale did when you extracted a part. I liked that look and brought it over to 2011.

Motet,

I did not look at what Finale 2012 does with extracted parts, only linked parts.  I seldom if ever need extracted parts anymore.  Anyway, moving past the extracted parts file name bug in 2012, the extracted part looks exactly like the linked part.  The instrument name is TNR/14 also.  I can agree that maybe the upper left is not the best location for the instrument name on subsequent pages.  If David wants it different than what is on the first page, then he must do as suggested and place another text block insert of "Score/Part Name" somewhere on page 2 and set its frame property to appear on a "Page Range" of 2 to the end.  Leave the frame properties for the instrument name on page 1 alone at the default position and range.

When there were only extracted parts (e.g. 2005), the name was 18 point by default. I like the look. That's all I meant to say.

Thank you, Charles!  That is exactly what I needed.  (I had never found "frame attributes" before.)
