I keep receiving notifications for threads which I have nothing to do with. It is a bit of a bother. Why does this happen and how can I receive notifications only relating to my own posts or the ones I participate in? Thank you.

Is to subscribe to a thread the only way to receive email notifications when a new post is added to a thread?  It did not use to be.  I used to be able to check the "Notify me of reply postings by e-mail" found on the "Reply post" page, but sometime long, long ago, this quit working for me.  I gave up.
