When looking at that program, pay attention to the list of things it doesn't convert. Those items may not be critical for your files, but they were for mine. Therefore, I opted not to get it.
I must admit that it has been several months since I looked at it, so that "doesn't do" list may be shorter.

Thanks for mentioning MusicXML here.
Richard brings up good advice in checking our list of features that are not supported. It has indeed gone down over the past few months. It always helps to know which features are most needed, so feel free to let us know what is most important to you. Sometimes it can really help us if you are able to share the Finale file that the converter is having trouble with.
What's more of a problem for Evan's situation is that the plug-in currently runs on Windows only. So you would need to have Finale 2000 available on the Windows machine in order to complete the conversion. The Mac user cannot use the MusicXML file directly yet.
We plan to produce a Macintosh version in the future, but we need to track what Coda will be doing with Finale in terms of native OS X support.
Regards,
Michael Good
