I wonder why there isn't a proper tonic-sol-fa plugin in Finale (Sibelius has it). Can any one make it?

It looks like she wants this, or something similar:

(Why this is easier than learning to read music escapes me, but that's a discussion that we've had before. Yes, I know this is what they were taught as children.)

That was not meant as a criticism; just as a statement of fact. Is that link, in fact, what you want to do in Finale?

You could do it with the lyric tool. AFAIK, there is no plug-in to do it automatically.

I had the same need for Indonesian singers that only can read music in the form of 1 2 3 . . . (in a form slightly different from tonic sol-fa).

Just download the font named "kepatihan Pro", and install the font. I don't know if the font works with Finale, as I just create the music by typing it in Microsoft Word, selecting this font. I have done this job hundreds of times last year for the choir of a local Indonesian church.

The font is available here:

Hope it helps...

The font can be download either in postscipt or in truetype for Mac, or for Windows at this site:

I just tested the font with Finale 2010b. It works! Just open a text box, select font kepatihan pro, then type.

Very interesting. Even though I couldn't read the blog, the pictures were pretty self-explanatory.
