Let us say you have a 5 line staff. how do you change the size that is the size of the notes and the distance between the lines.

It can depend on different things. First off, is it a one staff document? For my work, that determines the path to choose, as resizing the system and/or resizing the staff, or a combination, gets different results.

It also depends on which program you are using, as some of the Finale family of products can't do some operations.

use the % tool and click on the staff, not on any notes. This way you can change the size of the staff, everything on it and everything attached to it by any given percentage
