<!--StartFragment -->I'm trying to compile the TestExtension that comes with the
PDK with Visual C++ 6.0.  TestExtension.dsw and .dsp don't seem to have any files in them.  When I opened them, I got empty projects.  I added testedat.cpp, testing.cpp, testing.h, and finale32.lib to the project.  Is there more that I should add to the project?  It compiled and generated a .dll.  There were a couple of warnings about shorts being assigned to longs.  Sloppy.  The plug-ins in the plug-ins directory all had an extension of .fxt.  Is there a way to generate a .fxt from a .dll?  I just renamed the .dll and it didn't appear in the plug-in menu in Finale.

Check out Jari Williamsson's plug-in developer's site:

There's a great beginner's FAQ that has a lot of crucial information for getting started - like the need to set 1-byte alignment. That should be an easier way to get started than just using what comes with the PDK. The .fxt is indeed just a renamed .dll, so just call it a .fxt file in your project settings.

Good luck!

Thanks.  Excellent resource.  It looks like a couple of things could be the problem.  The most obvious is that I was using the Demo with the non-Demo .libs.

Still no luck. Has anyone ever tried this? Could it be the difference between Finale 2004 Demo and others?
