See the circled close icon (circled in red, upper right corner) in the attached drawing. For me, it sometimes works, and sometimes has absolutely no effect (and it's been like this for years and years).

Anyone have a clue as to the what dictates when this button works and when it does not? I've never been able to figure it out. I can get around it, but...

It losses focus sometimes, but going to the file tab and close has always worked.

Sure, I know about all of those other methods. It just seems like one of those bugs that usually indicates a basic problem that has implications elsewhere. And something that should not be happening at all, anyway.

I'm just annoyed by it, that's all. I cannot seem to train myself to stiopm trying it.

I don't think I've ever had the problem you are experiencing, so I can't say it is a bug for everyone.

Hi

This is an Issue that I've seen crop up on my system ever since Finale 2008 and Windows XP
It happens only rarely, and I have never been able to find out what causes it.
The only way to actually determine that the issue has struck (other than not being able to close the score that is)
is if the current score window is "normalised". In that event, the X icon is grey and not red as standard.
As I say though, it only seems to happen on occasion and futilely clicking on the X (and cursing) does not seem to work.
Other than closing the window some other way, not a lot else can be done.
Actually, now that I come to think of it, cursing and furiously clicking does not do much of anything either (not even stress relief -sigh-).

It occasionally happens to me too. It has happened while using Windows 8 and 10, and with Finale 2012 and 2014.5.

Thanks for chiming in, but this problem has been around almost 10 years, going back many, many Finale and OS versions.

I consider it just another annoying Finale feature to be put up with.

I experienced this problem with one version in the (distant) past, but it has not occurred in recent version for me.
