I'm working on a composition that has an extensive cadenza. I wanted to split the measure into three sections so that each section would be one system long. I followed the directions on the web site but was not able to split into three sections (only two). Also, there is no triangle to slide in the box over the measure, but I was able to double click at the split point to create the split.
In addition, the measure preceding the cadenza seems to be attached to the cadenza measure (in the parts) so that I cannot put them on different systems. The score seems to work okay though.
Has anyone else run into these problems and did you solve the dilemma.

I've seldom had good results splitting measures by using Horizontal Split Points. Why not just create 3 long measures with hidden time signatures and with Include in Measure Numbering deselected?

I agree 100% with Vaughan. While the horizontal split is a bit more dependable than it was a few years back, I never use it. Add to Vaughan's instructions: make barlines invisible.
