As stated by two other users in a different thread: Finale 2014 seems (!) to be stable now when you run it under the El Capitan 10.11.2 PUBLIC BETA

If you have upgraded to El Capitan and need to use Finale, you now have the option of installing the Beta - or just wait a little bit for the final release.

As was stated on the Finale blog about the subject, beta releases can be changed before the official version appears. It might be wise to wait just a little longer until the final release is issued. MM is keeping close tabs on these developments and if OS 10.11.2 fixes the crashes, they'll let us know right away.

Of course you are right, it is better to wait for the official release. But some of the forum members have already upgraded to El Capitan and need to use Finale - it is them who might find the info useful.

For the rest: Remember the MakeMusic comment that the crashings appeared after some "last minute" changes from Apple...

So, what version of EC would come with a new iMac?

The beta version?

I doubt that Apple would sell a computer with less than an official version of the OS - beta is not official, in my mind. My own experience (2 new Macs in the last 10 years) has been that the computer comes with an OS that is at least 1 update removed from the current one. Just get on the internet and update it that way.

Of course, the beta may change, as well. I wouldn't jump to do anything until (a) the OS release is final, and (b) MM releases 2014.5, with assurances that it will work.

Even then, past experience has shown that there will be some (perhaps many) configurations that will have problems.

Update: Do NOT upgrade to beta 3 of 10.11.2. Finale has reverted to crashing.
