Actually, because of your hint about playback devices, I changed the playback to "Play Finale through MIDI" and the MP3 option to export finally showed up. Thank you for the hint. I appreciate your help.

In order to directly export to MP3, Finale must be set to Play through MIDI. If you export from VST units as an AIFF, you can use Audacity to normalize (if necessary) and export as MP3, or iTunes, or your program of choice. Mike Rosen www.specialmillwork.com

Finale 2010, 2011, 2012c, 2014a, but using 2012 again, on Mac 10.9.2 Simple Entry, QWERTY keyboard. That's my system, and I'm stickin' to it.
