Is it possible?  I'm talking about the multi-hex-field data entry system exclusive messages here.  I've been using plain-Jane MIDI controllers in Finale for years, but now I've got a new sound module (Roland SC-8850 to be exact), and a lot of its really neat effects can only happen with Sysex messages.  I'd really like to be able to continue using Finale for all my MIDI sequencing needs....I KNOW it's really NOT a sequencer, but notation software, but I find it suits my particular combination of needs perfectly (work best in actual notation, can't ACTUALLY play keyboard worth a damn, etc.)

Sorry to double post..

Anyone?  Anyone at all?  I'm really not sure where else to turn...I mean, this IS the official Finale board, yes?

...OK, any SUGGESTIONS on where to look next?  I'm completely at a loss here...

...should I have posted this in the notation forum?

Justus,

Yes, try the Mac & Windows notation forums. Couldn't hurt!

Sorry I don't have an answer for you; I don't use Finale for playback/sequencing much at all. I'd be hitting the MIDI Tool chapter of the online manual [pdfs] myself to try & help, which I trust you already have.

Ah, thanks.  I guess I'll try the notation forums...

Yeah, I know...it's notation software, not MIDI software..any SANE person would only try the kinds of things I'm trying to do in a program like Cakewalk, but what can I say, I love Finale's interface, and I can't stand Cakewalk's.  I don't even really use Finale to write orchestral music.  In fact, the scores I DO make with it are so messy, most of the notators here would absolutely CRINGE to see it.  And yeah, I've already checked the MIDI tool part.  A little information on using MIDI controllers, which I already knew, but nothing on SysEx.  Anyways, thanks for responding.
