Hi. I have 15-inch MBP from 2015, 16GB RAM, dedicated graphics. Very strong machine.
I run multiple tracks with effects in Logic Pro X and Live, without problem.
I use Pianoteq and just five single-pitched instruments in a Finale scores.
Finale puts CPU into 220% having a lot of fan working and very heating.
How to reduce the CPU?

I've just played through and then audio-exported a 16 min, 40-stave (or more) Finale 2014d file, and neither playback nor audio export used as much as half the modest CPU, as far as I can tell.

This despite the file's audio being full of several bizarre fake effects introduced by me because of the limitations of Garritan Instruments for Finale and SoftSynth (of necessity the file's audio is a hybrid of these) - mind you I still can't get any kind of gong or tam-tam to be even remotely loud enough, but that's a different problem.

However, if I try to get the playback of the same file opened in 2014.5, it is disastrous - full of clicks and stutters, followed soon enough by a crash. I've tried in both OS 10.9.5 and 10.11.6.

Interesting - good to know, David, thank you.
I have removed using AU plugin, and connected outside of Finale, so that it routes directly to PianoTeq, and finally much reduced CPU!
