My thoughts exactly--except that I use
Finale 2002b in Classic under OS X every
day, and only rarely does it give me any
trouble. On those occasions when it does
act up, I restart Classic (Classic, not OS
X!) and everything is back to normal. The
only concession that I have to make is to
use QuickTime 4.1.2 in Classic rather
than 5.0.2 to take care of the uneven
playback glitch. (BTW, does anyone know
whether this glitch is Coda's or Apple's
fault?)

I'm afraid that there is little incentive for
Coda, since for the last 3 years they've
chosen to work on the more lucrative
Windoze version and put the Mac version
on the back burner. Coda must
understand that without OS X support,
there is little or no reason for a Mac user
to upgrade from 2002. I bought the 2002
upgrade, but never installed it. Now we're
being asked (or will be) to upgrade to
2003, when Finale is the only major
program on my computer (I hold onto
Claris Emailer out of nostalgia) that
doesn't operate in OS X, and the buzz is
that Finale 2003 is NOT going to be a
carbonized app, though may run better in
Classic than current versions. Unless the
Classic version of Finale 2003 does
something wonderful, like make coffee or
play Simpsons reruns in a side window,
I'm not going to buy the upgrade. I'll just
wait for an OS X version, or use 2001 until
I can't any more.

I'm considering a slightly different course of action here:

I have Virtual PC, and if Coda keeps insisting on ignoring us Mac
users, I may have to get my hands on Finale 2003 for Windows.

At least until they have a working version in OS X.

This issue with 2001d and OS X is absurd, and I refuse to restart
my machine just to use one application. Talk about a waste of time.

As for a patch for 2003 for Mac to work in Classic, I'll believe it
when a rep from Coda comes to my house, installs it, and proves
to me that it works more than twice. Barring that, I just don't trust
Coda.
