Finale 2010, btw.

When I export to either aif or mp3, none of the sounds go to the new saved file. Everything gets played back as a piano sound.

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

If you are setup for Garritan, you have to render to wav. Compressed formats use GM. What is the setup for the playback?

Also, what do you get when saving to wav?

I use playback SO infrequently - so I have little experience with settings.

I had simply been trying "export to audio file..." vie the File menu. No previous steps.....

( sorry for what must be a very newbie question, by the way! )

The playback all sounds find - just using "Play Finale Thru Midi' setting.

It's only when I export that things go lame....

Was this a file you created yourself or imported from a MIDI file?

In the instrument list, what are the channels and sounds there?

They are all set up in groups -- the Choir Ahs, different woodwinds, different brass, strings, etc - corresponding channels and programs, and matching instruments in the GM column....

Ooh - I think I figured it out!

I checked the "Send Patches Before Play" box and it worked!
