Hello,

I have the latest and greatest with the special VST dll but I still get crashes over here.
How is it going with other people.

Please do not start venting.

Greetings from Belgium

Hi:

I had a lot of difficulty with random crashes through 2007b until I was able to install the appropriate FinaleVST.dll. Every thing was fine until I installed 2007c and unfortunately the crashes have begun again. I will contact support and try to find a relsolution. Hopefully it is just a matter of downloading the proper .dll

Maybe the 2007c updater overwrote the special FinaleVST.dll. Have you tried to reinstall this file?

I have tried a complete uninstall of both Finale 2007 and Garritan Personal Orchestra along with re-re-reinstalls of the super VST.dll and I get so many crashes per session that I developed the habit of saving after each and every entry for fear of the next crash.  Finale is very very unstable since KP2 update issue.  I did not reinstall the KP2 update, but crashes and articulations do not work properly.  I did notice however that in the Programs there is a file entitled VST and it contains three types of KP2.dll files.  I have not bother them, but I'm not all together sure is this still affects the program.

Mine does. It seems to crash on playback. Intermittently; same file re-started doesn't.

I called MakeMusic today (4/24/07) to report that I was having crashing problems and I was told that I was the only one that has reported the crashes.  Matt at MM siad that no one else was having crashing problems after they provided the "FinaleVSTHost.dll file.  I am crashing during every session several times.  It may help to contact MakeMusic by phone to let them know you are having crashes so that they will not become over-confident that they have resolved the issue.  I've learned to work around the issue by saving with each additional change made to my documents.

If you really need to work through the playback crashing problems, you might want to consider not using GPO and VST hosting. The softsynth seems to work fine without crashing. Luckily for me, the new .dll file corrected the crashing problem for me. Unluckily for me, soon after my PC got fried resulting in 2 sticks of RAM blown out and a non-bootable, corrupted Windows XP. I'm now solely on my Mac Pro, and I can't even use GPO and JABB due to lack of Univ. Binary support. I know GPO is sort of ported, but not officially by Garritan. So I'm stuck using the softsynth, and Finale has been rock solid through 8 hour days of copy work.

I know this isn't the best solution, but if you need to work w/o crashing, lose the VST hosting.

Those of you, who still get crashing, are you absolutely sure you have the test FinaleVSTHost.dll installed? I believe it is version 1.0.0.18, as opposed to the "official" latest version 1.0.0.19, which, btw, is fairly crash free for me. It is rather odd, if the same file works with F07b and not with F07c.

I have contacted Finale support and Ryan is sending me the file to install. I had it but inadvertantly delated iot after updating to 2007c. I can't remember whether it was version 1.0. 0.17 or 1.0.0.18. At any rate I haope that the fix that worked for me last time willl work again.

Interestingly, when I went to my account page just now the support request which has been and ahould be active for me now is no longer listed. I hope this does not bode ill.

Hello,

The FinaleVST dll file was also overwritten here with the 2007c version install.
So can somebody confirm this.

The fix FinaleVST should be version 18 and not 19.

I will try again version 18 and see what happens.

Greetings,

Hello,
I've been thru what many of you are describing. (and it was a pain in...)
I stopped using VSTs altogether and now use Kontakt 2 and GPO both as
standalones. Haven't had a problem (with the crashing) since.

I've got to say, however, I've been biased against the VSTs for awhile anyway,
just so you know where I'm coming from. :-)

Hello,

After reinstalling version 18 of the VST dll file almost all my crashes are gone.
But I still got one a few minutes ago and don't know the reason.

greetings,
