Why not Mac users? I can deal with the "one off" palette but prefer the classic one we used to have.

And as I mentioned earlier, you can download the full installer from the MakeMusic site via your purchase link. It will install F2014d. Yippee I oh, I eh!

I second this. Updating through the program failed several times. Downloading through the web site was super quick.

It's very encouraging to read that the fixes in this update address some of the issues that have been repeatedly mentioned on this forum. Also encouraging that some of those forum mates have already written about their satisfaction with the positive changes.

Erin, thanks for the past help you have given us, and best luck in your future endeavors.

I was able to download the full installer from the MakeMusic site. It's already the 2014d version so all is well again and F2014d is percolating along nicely.

Much, much, much faster! I was sitting there waiting (for 15 minutes and less than 5% complete) when I read this. I cancelled the "within Finale" update immediately and went to the website. Downloaded the zip file in less than a minute.

We're getting some reports of slower download times. I'll look into it and make sure nothings wrong, but I suspect our server might be a little overloaded right now. Give it some time or maybe consider trying again a little later.

Bruno,

What OS are you using? I can't think of any reasons why 2014d would be slower that c, but I'll certainly look into it.

Option to disable the dreadful new smart shapes snap to beat thing. Great. I can now use 2014!

All I need now is text sizes in increments of less than 1 point and I'll be happy.

I had moved the app to a folder on the same drive, but that hasn't affected the previous updates to 2014

That's not a good idea. Update installers frequently install revised components only (i.e. not the whole thing) to specific locations. You should really keep all apps in the /Applications folder, and not in any subfolders. (The same is true for Apple's own apps.)

If you're seeing a standard Apple application icon, then that suggests that Finale has got missing components. Run the full C installer and then run the D updater.

Could be an installation problem. Tech Support should be able to help you out, although running the installer again will probably fix it.

No, but having two generators for the same file type may cause conflicts.

Erin, you haven't mentioned the pinch-and-zoom fix on Yosemite.

Okay, I've learned a bit more about this. Which version of the plugin the system uses can be a bit of a murky area, and it's certainly possible that the system would still be trying to use the old plugin (so yes, removing it could prevent conflicts).

And thank you for reminding me about the pinch-to-zoom issue! In Yosemite, we saw that this was quite slow in 2014, so this has been fixed. Additionally, an issue that prevented tool specific menus (Chord tool, Staff tool, Lyrics tool, etc.) from appearing on Yosemite has also been fixed.

Erin and others,

I removed the 2011 QL Generator and now both .musx and .mus files are previewing as expected.

I reckon this will make me a 2014 user.

Hi Bill,

"18 zillion .mus files" are probably slowing down the new plugin a bit. :-) I don't think that deleting the old one will make it work any faster, although the new one will read .mus and .musx files.

If I delete the 2011 QL Generator, will the new one correctly render old files?
