I have a Mac pro laptop and also an external typing keyboard (w/number pad). I still use speedy note entry. With using a Mac, one has to use option key and the number 3 to create a triplet entry, and then I hit the corresponding notes and rhythm.

My problem is, I have small hands and the reach to do this when there is a large quantity of triplets in my music, is beginning to become painful.

Using script, can I create a different "hotkey" like: any of the 4 arrow directional keys or the F16, F17,F18, or F19 keys above the number pad on this keyboard?

Thanks!!

I'm not sure if Finalescript can do this or not. But what I'm pretty sure would work is Quickeys. You could assign the tuplet definition to any keystroke you like.

I can understand your frustration with the reach, but I use 2 hands to define a tuplet, so the reach is never an issue.

Good luck.

You can do it with QK. What I did was made one so if I hit ctrl 3, it told it to alt 3. That is an easier stretch. You can get extra tricky and make it that it only does it in speedy. I also have my 8 remapped to the =.
