I just installed the beta on my MacBook Air (which I don't use for production work).

I found a Finale 2014.5 problem with the tool palette. In "long/narrow" view (2 columns) all the tools from Resize Tool and below are not available. 3-column view seems to make all the tools available.

Thanks for the heads up and workaround. Hopefully the next version of Finale will play nice with OS 10.12 from the start.

It's a fairly safe bet that we aren't going to see any bug fix releases for 2014.5 although one would certainly be nice. In any case, since 10.12 is in early beta, there's no way that MakeMusic will address this.

It's possible that the problem may be a bug in the beta OS that Apple needs to fix, rather than a deficiency in Finale itself.

You might want to check the beta licence to see what you are allowed to discuss publicly, as I believe there are sometimes limitations.

The public beta of Sierra was released day before yesterday—no NDA. It is identical to v.2 of the developer beta.

Ah. Interesting.

The bug should certainly be reported both to Apple, using the Feedback Assistant, and to MakeMusic.

Of course there are numerous minor bugs throughout the newest beta. I've been using my MacBook Air as a perpetual Mac OS X/macOS beta test device since the Yosemite public beta.

I thought it was unlike Apple to be be so open!

Is the public beta software confidential?
Yes, the public beta software is Apple confidential information. Don’t install the public beta software on any systems you don't directly control or that you share with others. Don’t blog, post screen shots, tweet, or publicly post information about the public beta software, and don't discuss the public beta software with or demonstrate it to others who are not in the Apple Beta Software Program.

A bit crazy when they've just released it to anyone who wants to have a look, but... it is what it is.

One of many links that will get yo to the public beta:
9to5mac.com/guides/apple-beta-software-program/

It's also easy to join the Apple Developers Group which is where you get first crack at beta.

I've been a member of ADG for many years but I no longer mess with beta as I make my living on my Macs. Wake me up when it's released. Till then, I let others have all the fun.

I received a bona fide nanny state PM from Wiggy about this. LOL. Then tonight I was surfing Reddit and this thread made me think about it again: http://bit.ly/29ugavH Seriously, what do you care if I get kicked out of the beta program? Or does admonition just make you feel superior?

macOS Sierra is pretty great. Siri is fantastic on the Mac. Sure, there are a bunch of little bugs that will be worked out in time for the formal release, but none of these are mission-critical and are similar to those in previous beta releases. I'm confident they'll be fixed. No need to report them to Apple. There is no risk to their reputation. If I transgress I'm sure I'll hear directly from my one of my many friends at Apple working on macOS.

On the other hand, makemusic, with their antiquated code, tend to live on the fringes of current OS APIs (meaning they assume outdated APIs still work and seem genuinely shocked when they don't), so it's in their best interest to hear about specific things now rather than later.

However, I feel there is a real sea change at MM now that they're private and under scrutiny from a parent company. Recent blog posts seem to indicate that they're at least aware of current software standards and UX trends, so I continue to hope for the best.
