This weekend while shopping at Guitar Center, when I mentioned that I have Finale, the sales associate got all excited & said he was absolutely wowed when his friend told him that he had played his guitar into Finale & turned it into sheet music.
Is that REALLY something that is possible with a newer version than the 2010 that I am using? I have wanted for years to transcribe my husband's classical guitar compositions. (Years ago I looked up "MIDI guitars", but they were not favorably reviewed & unbearably expensive, so I let the thought go...) Is there some new kind of "fuzzy logic" that is able to correctly recognize notes played by "real" strings?! And is the input through a mic or some kind of jack attached to an electric guitar? (the prize of sheet music would be worth the plunking of an electric guitar just to get the notes transferred)
Thanks for your help! Karen Silvernail

Began composing Scripture Songs in 1988 - transcribing with pen & ink. In early 90's, began typing in lyrics on IBM selectric & then smith corona with auto-correct (moving up!) Dreamed of some kind of computer program that could allow me to make "real" sheet music myself, not needing to hire an engraver (wherever such an animal could be located) In 1995, attended a presentation advertised by a gentleman who wanted to begin a home-schooled children's band, using Finale to create the parts. Only two families attended. The other attendee turned out to be a custom computer builder. He gave me his card. In July 1996, a friend felt led to give me a sizeable financial gift to help my dream come true. Being computer illiterate & feeling vulnerable to salesman's pressures, was blessed to be able to have my first computer put together with components that met my specific needs, and to purchase a MIDI keyboard & this glorious software called Finale. Being a busy mother has made the job slow in transcribing the approx. 1000 songs I've written... but the time will come someday to e-publish the collection! The features in 2010 added since 2005 will help to speed up the process. | Back to Top | |

Thanks for the input! Karen Silvernail
