I love the way you can enter music in Notepad, but I need the ability to export to MIDI -- and I also need the ability to control the note volumes.

Allegro seems to do this, but the demo doesn't answer three questions:

1) Why doesn't the note show up as I move the cursor the way it does in Notepad? This seems to be *real* important to be able to see what note duration you're entering (I hate those crosshairs!).

2) I can't get the numeric keypad (or even the numeric keys) on my computer keyboard to set the note durations the way it works in Notepad -- it doesn't seem to have any effect at all in the Allegro demo.

3) While I can *see* the volumes of the MIDI notes in a graphical manner, I don't understand how to set them. Is there any way I can easily reduce the volume of all the notes in a given instrument, for example?

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is because Allegro 2002 has not yet been introduced. The notehead mouse cursor was an improvement to the 2002 versions of our products.

That is also due to a difference in versions. In Allegro 2001, you need to hold down the note duration when you click.

That is included in the documentation with the full version. I will individually email you the PDF chapter for the MIDI tool if you'd like to take a look at it before buying.

Thanks, Dan. I ended up ordering Finale 2002 anyway, since it's pretty obvious I'll want the full power (and it looks like a terrific program).

But that's great support from you (and another reason for buying Coda!)
