I'm about to subscribe and have a question about what i actually receive.

It appears that I get a cd with my initial subscription. I can also pay 7.95 for a cd (not clear why I would need, no descriptjion provided). Do i understand that i can either get the software via mail or downloaded?

The additional CD is offered mainly for teachers who want to give it to their students to try out before buying their own subscription. If you get the complimentary one with your subscription, you probably don't need any extra CDs. Because of the long download time, I would get the CD in the mail, though.
