We want to generate animated scores with our own animations exported in another format than FINALE.
 
Does anyone have an idea on how to convert the FINALE scores into animated sequences (Flash animation or other) ?

Before you get any answers, you should probably tell, whether you are trying to create the movies on a Windows machine or on a Macintosh.

You can't use the same applications on both platforms, you know... ;-)

If you're running Windows, you might try www.techsmith.com.
This company produces a product called Camtasia Studio that allows you to create videos of your screen in Flash, Quicktime, AVI files, etc. You can also import an audio file such as MIDI and WAV and synchronize it with the video. It sells for $299.00 and is available as a 30-day trial demo if you want to try it out first.

Thanks a lot for your answers.
- We use alternatively Mac and Windows, this is why I had not given this precision. But mainly Windows.
- I'll explore the Camtasia solution... The inconvenient might be to lose the identification of notes, and not be able to personalise the look of the animation, but it is a good start !

Hi Deborah,

It depends what type of animation you are doing. If it is an animation that can be done by recording how Finale works on screen, something like Camtasia would probably work great.

If you're trying to do something different - generating animations based on the musical data that do not look like Finale's music display - then a different approach may work better. If that's the case, it may be best to export the Finale data to MusicXML, and then go from there into Flash or another application.

It's hard to know without knowing more about the type of animation you want to do. We might be able to help out on this, so feel free to contact me directly with more information about what you want to do.
