Thanks for the notice.

(Currently using: Finale 2003a, 2005, Windows XP-Home, TGTools 2.25, and The Glenlivet when I can afford it.)

I read through the changes made; a few seem interesting to me, but I'm not an extremely sophisticated user. I'll probably download and apply 2005a, but I'll be interested in seeing the comments of others more knowledgeable than I.

Thank you Carla and everyone else who worked on this. So far so good!

But...

Is it my imagination, or are numbers defined by the "Center Number Using Duration" option now out of position for down-stem tuplets - too far offset right? Up-stem tuplets seem to be fine, though. Look at this (I've distorted the tuplet positioning to clarify my point):

Looks like HP.lib, and the plug-ins Apply Human Playback and FinaleScript dont get updated... hmmm

A corrected version of the installer will probably be available soon.

use horizontal number offset for downstem side of tuplets in document settings/tuplets
and turn off "ignore horizontal number offset" in your tuplet definitions.

I'm sorry, that didn't work for me - unless I've misunderstood your suggestion. Perhaps you could post the dialog boxes showing your settings.

I did manage to reproduce the bug with tuplets that start with rests from your other thread - very unsatisfactory! I hope this is sorted out soon.

Simon, go to Menu Options/Document Options/Tuplets
- unselect "Default Position/Ignore Horizontal Number Offset"
- set "Horizontal Number Offset/Downstem Side of Note" to whatever works for you (eg. -8pt)
- OK

now select your measures with MassEdit tool and reset your existing tuplets with
MassEdit menu/Change/Tuplets/Reset button then OK

this should work, send me your file

Thank you, that's much clearer! However, the program settings still look wrong in places: is it a Finale error, or is my understanding of engraving conventions faulty? The example below uses the "Center Number Using Duration" settings, but my understanding is that the numbers should appear where indicated by the arrows, rather than where the program has decided they should be. Have I got it wrong?

Actually, if you are using engraver tuplets you definitely *should* check "Ignore Horizontal Number Offset". The Horizontal Number Offset was how for years non-engraver tuplets tried to adjust the number's position, but, being a fixed value, it could not account for different tuplet number styles. Now I use engraver tuplets, and find that if "ignore" is checked I get a much better positioning.

Yes, that's what I thought, and that is the way I used to work in the original release of 2005. However, as you can see from my original example, something has changed in the maintenance release and the positioning is "off" for downstem tuplets (or at least it is for me). On the other hand, Abel's solution seems to have worked a treat (apart from the query in the post immediately before yours). I suppose it doesn't matter so long as I can get the results I want, but it can be annoying when things keep changing without notice between releases.

Abel, I use Opus Text 10pt regular for tuplets.

Bear in mind that if you need for your documents to be cross-platform, the Opus Fonts no longer work with Finale in OS X from Finale 2004.

Not fully true.

Opus Chords, Opus PlainChords and Opus Text work with Finale in OS X from Finale 2004.

But Opus, Opus Percussion and Opus Special don't work with Finale in OS X from Finale 2004.

This problem seems to be limited to Finale.
I can use all the Opus fonts in the Mac OS X application TextEdit.

Those are Unicode encoded fonts. That's why.

There we have yet another Finale feature requested for a long time:

Support for Unicode encoded fonts.
