Is there any quick tool to copy Full names into abbreviated names?

It's worth the effort to get and learn a macro program to automate such things, I think. I recently went through and put boxes around certain expressions (why isn't it a category feature?) and using a macro saved a lot of work. You might be able to do this particular thing with Finalescript, but a macro program that can simulate QWERTY and mouse actions is more general.

Actually, this would be a good candidate for a Staff Style. In the Staff Style dialog there is a section called "Behaviors". A "Force Full Names" checkbox could be included there. Just highlight the first measure stack, apply the style, and you're done.

Maybe I'm missing the point but why not just check the box in measure attributes "Show Full Staff & Group Names?" Unless you really NEED to copy them into the abbreviated names for other reasons.

Give SF a cheroot! Seems like the easiest solution. If you select all and check that, though, you have to then uncheck "begin a new staff system", and if you had already checked that for places you want it, that would be a problem.
