I probably should have posted this separately, rather than burying it in a reply to my own question.

Using the newest download the "open ftm" or "open template" still doesn't work -- it doesn't bring up a dialog box (although "open" by itself does). It doesn't work for any of the types, including "all".

It works for me with the steps I list in the other thread. I did have to specify the batch process folder to make the "open command" work. Maybe that is the step you've forgotten.
Please provide steps so I can further troubleshoot this.

Um, but I'm not batch processing anything (nor do I want to).

Perhaps that's why it works for you -- but what if you only want to process the currently open document?
