I don't know where Windows 8 puts things, but in Windows 7 (and earlier versions if my memory is still functioning) downloads would automatically go to the "Downloads" folder under the "Users" -> your account name folder.
Both Internet Explorer and FireFox "remember" where they put your most recent downloads as well which is how I usually locate downloaded files. The question was about the Finale internal update. I already had the upgrade done, and can't find it, but maybe it deletes it after finishing the upgrade. I guess it should be either in: C:\Users\ [windows user account name] \AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic or C:\Users\ [windows user account name] \AppData\Local\Temp\Finale C:\Users\ [windows user account name] \AppData\Local\Temp\MakeMusic
Why would the update file move after it does its job? All my downloaded Finale update files are in the original "Downloads" folder. If your update is finished, why do you care where the downloaded file is--unless you want to run it again for some reason. Finale 2014c with Garritan Personal Orchestra 4.0. 2. I like to keep the update file in the event a new version (update) doesn't work so I can roll back if needed. If I have the original install file, then I can do that. That's one reason to keep them.
