Hi

Does anyone knows when finale update automatically where the download installer goes. After the download you have to shut down finale but can not find the downloaded installer so I can install the update. Your help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have checked the desktop but it didn't go there either.

I don't know where Windows 8 puts things, but in Windows 7 (and earlier versions if my memory is still functioning) downloads would automatically go to the "Downloads" folder under the "Users" -> your account name folder.

Both Internet Explorer and FireFox "remember" where they put your most recent downloads as well which is how I usually locate downloaded files.

The question was about the Finale internal update. I already had the upgrade done, and can't find it, but maybe it deletes it after finishing the upgrade.
I guess it should be either in:

C:\Users\ [windows user account name] \AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic

or

C:\Users\ [windows user account name] \AppData\Local\Temp\Finale
C:\Users\ [windows user account name] \AppData\Local\Temp\MakeMusic

Click the Install button first; then the installer will prompt you to close the program. (I found that out only after having to download the install a second time.)

Why would the update file move after it does its job? All my downloaded Finale update files are in the original "Downloads" folder. If your update is finished, why do you care where the downloaded file is--unless you want to run it again for some reason.

You can just login to your account at the MakeMusic site and download the latest Full version of F2014 which includes revision d.  Then you can do a complete install anywhere you need it.

1. It is much easier to download the update from the website instead of within Finale. You are given the option to save it anywhere you want.

2. I like to keep the update file in the event a new version (update) doesn't work so I can roll back if needed. If I have the original install file, then I can do that. That's one reason to keep them.

I am very much confused. Germain posted the original question. Mircea provided further details. And now Simon says he tried it. Who, exactly, wants to locate the downloaded update file and can't find it? And, why is this a problem?

It's easy. Just log in to your account at MakeMusic , and then download the full version of Finale 2014, which include the old version and the updated. Otherwise, it may available on Google perhaps
