I am trying to make a Smart Music file with a short audio accompaniment track and an instrument track. It's for soprano recorder assessment. In Finale I have made the file and exported it as a SM file...but in SM the audio track is not present/heard.
Will Finale even make a SM file with an audio track or am I doing something wrong?

Turbotuba,

Unfortunately, you can't export a Finale file with audio track into a SmartMusic file. The export process will simply ignore the audio track and bring in the notation part. I'll be happy to pass this feature request along, however!

Do my ears deceive me, or Is that an audio recording of a band in EE2000 BK1 #24. That feature would be very useful to me. =) Thanks! -jross

We do have plenty of audio tracks inside SmartMusic for the content we release - our audio engineers do a lot of work to make sure the recordings sync up with the notation and stuff. It's not possible in Finale to get as detailed a match as we get doing it by hand, so it's not a Finale feature with SmartMusic export.

Boy, I wish I had found this information before I spent three hours putting a piece together and using Hyperscribe to create the tempo map (tempotap) to align with the MP3. All that work, and not a lot to show for it. eyes

Why can't we make SM files like you guys (MM) can, esp. if we do the hard work of making tempo maps, etc.? C'mon …

Put me down for this feature request. If it shows up in the next version of Finale you will have my upgrade money.

How about this: Can I send you my file and you send me back a proper SM file, with MP3 accompaniment?

I agree. This would be a most helpful feature!!! Please add! I would like a more accurate feature rather than tempo tap as well.
