Hi everyone (long time no see!),

Haven't been around for a few years keeping a bit busy with some new kids around the house :)

Back into it hard hopefully, and of course it's never smooth sailing...

I'm doing final editing of a chart and I'm stuck getting mixed fonts in my part names IN THE PARTS (no problem in the score).

I want to have "Percussion I" or "Percussion II" in bold, then the instruments within that part non-bold.

The part name in the 'Manage Parts' dialog box appears perfectly in my score staff names (bold & regular), but I'm guessing what is in the Score Manager 'Full Name' doesn't have the ability to display mixed fonts using a text insert as the staff name.

I'm hoping someone can prove me wrong, as it took me an hour to edit all the parts, and over and hour to NOT find out how to fix this problem!

I know I can manually enter the text, but surely I shouldn't have too? Google searches have been in vain (and I'm sure the search function here hasn't improved...a quick test proved that).

Oh...Finale 2014.

Cheers,

Tim

Sorry, Tim. No can do.

If you go to Manage Parts > Edit Part Names, you can enter mixed sizes and styles in the "Edit Text" window. But the resulting display shows only one size and style. I think it has to do with the fact that mixed sizes and styles are not allowed in text inserts generally.

I would delete "(S.D./B.D.)" from the part name and add it as a text box set to appear only on the Percussion 1 part.

Welcome back!!

N.

I have a similar issue all the time with Reed doublers. Generally in cases like these, I just leave everything linked for all the editing and then as a very last step before printing/PDF creation, extract the parts needing name revisions and change the name. As it is the absolute last step in my workflow, if any revisions are needed I just toss the extracted parts and go back to working on the linked score/parts. That way I'm only out 30 seconds of time for the extraction and text block editing.
