jpgs attached. sorta self-explanatory.

is there a fix?

standard engraved style exhibits none of these problems.

Have you reloaded your fonts, or cleared the font cache?

Hi tbabcock,

I am dealing with similar problem (see my Font Woes thread). Have you also installed the 10.6 recently?

Thanks Bill and Count Verdi!

font caches cleared without any change in this anomalous behavior.

10.6.4 installed quite some time ago.

as i said, the issue is confined to the so-called 'handwritten' style utilizing the Broadway Copyist font (included with 2011). there is no similar issue when using the standard (Maestro) engraving style.

it looks like a character mapping issue.

it turned out to be a case of duplicate fonts.

Hello, Hopefully someone reads this.

I've been searching through the depths of the internet to find ANY help possible with this situation. And I finally found this.

Can you please tell me exactly HOW you fixed the issue? How did you fix the fonts? I've been pulling my hair trying to get my finale working again. Any and all help will be beyond greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

open FontBook and use its ability to check for duplicate fonts and disable one of them.

Use Spotlight to search for it. Of course, you'll need to know where Spotlight is. :p

But seriously, you should take a moment to look through the contents of the /Applications folder and /Applications/Utilities.

Things like FontBook, DiskUtility, System Profiler, Audio MIDI Setup, and the Terminal are pretty much essential for any troubleshooting of problems.

Brandon,

Is your problem identical to that of the original thread? Can you show us a screenshot of the problem?

Do you have one instance of Maestro (or whichever font you use) active? Can it be seen and used in other apps, e.g. TextEdit?

Have you emptied the font cache? You can either use a utility program, like Onyx, to do this, or type in the following into the Terminal:

atsutil databases -remove

Then restart your Mac. Onyx can be obtained here:
www.titanium.free.fr/download.php

It is a very useful utility for solving problems with your Mac.
