Hello and thanks in advance for your help!  I  am getting basically nothing when I follow the instructions for getting a metronome marking at the beginning of my piece.  I click on expressions, then create, then using the table in the handbook I type in what ever will get me that particular expression: a letter followed by pressing alt, the plus key, and a number, then some characters.  I get nothing!  What could be the problem?

Perplexed,

Yvette

Assuming you're using Windows, I think that you are supposed to hold down the alt key, and then press the four digits on the numeric keypad, e.g. to get the character Ï I held down alt and then typed 0199 on the keypad.

Also if you are using this method, you might want to ensure you have the Maestro font selected.

Much better is to use the Engraver Font Text T font to create the metronome markings. Select Expressions, click create, select the font and font size via the menu at the top, then type "q=120" to get a crotchet(quarter-note) = 120 marking. You'll find it's much easier on the eye, and you don't have to remember obscure keystrokes to get it.

Roughly linked to this; how do you program an accel. or ritardando? Suppose I want a gradual increase from
q=60 to q= 240 over several bars, how do I do this?
Thanks
Tony

You will have better luck getting your questions answered if you post to the regular Finale form as this message board is specific to the FinaleScript Plug-in.
