Finale 2014.5

When I try to open in 2011b a few files of a large scale, multi-file project, created I think in 2009 if not earlier, I get the following message:

"Cannot set position in file C:\Users\Ed\Documents\Finale Files\Contes d'Hoffman\Scores, Parts... etc. An attempt was made to move the file pointer before the beginning of the file."

My concern is that the BAK files for this project are several years older than the last attempted open MUS file, and there are clearly several formatting changes that are not reflected in the BAK files.

Any ideas? Can anyone open this for me? Any suggestions on addressing this issue when it crops up again?

I wasn't able to open it, either. I got a ID= -8 error.

Does the .bak file open? I'm not suggesting you use that, but that would say whether it's an incompatibility bug or a corrupted file.

Yes, the BAK files open. But again, they all are 2-3 years older than the last opened MUS files, and there's at least one formatting issue that I'm noticing in missing in them, and that's just the one I'm aware of. Which is making me nervous.
