My experience is that it's not. When imploding 2 staves, I get doubled up articulations in the destination staff. In previous Finale versions, slurs and dynamics would also double up. It's a real pain, as each of the two overlay each other almost perfectly and show only a slight boldening which is the tipoff to the problem. I've worked on scores where the composer or arranger has used Finale's implode, only to discover after score and parts are completed that I have some cleanup to do.
You use Windows - do you get the same result as well?

I only mentioned it because it is there. I would probably get the same results as you, but I haven't used it in a while. I'll try it on something like what you describe when I get a chance and check it out. I also recall using the piano reduction plug-in with some success to implode several staves.
