Hi all-

I just bought a new laptop with no CD reader in it, and would like to install my Finale 2010 on it. Unfortunately I have a Finale CD, and when I sign into the Finale page it tells me that Finale 2010 is not available for download.

What can I do?

If I were you I'd call MM and demand a downloadable version. They can do it. Since modern laptops don't always have DVD drives, they need to rethink their policy.

One suggestion is to take your CD to a computer that has a CD Drive.  Make an ISO image of the CD using CD imaging software.  Take the ISO back to your new laptop, and using virtual CD/DVD drive software, you can mount the ISO and run the installation.  Granted, if you don't already have the requisite software, it will take searching the internet for freeware versions.  They exist.

Yes, Jetcopy's solution will be the lesser hassle, and cheep.  You will probably need a DVD/CD drive sometime else in the future as well.

What I've done on my cdless computers is to put them on my local LAN (the modem I use to get to the NET) and copy them using Windows Explorer and file sharing. The other thing I've done is as above, used a memory stick.
