P.S.: I revised the file according to my instructions. I assumed that I should transpose all the staves equally. However, I'm not sure after hearing it. Anyway, this should put you in the right direction. If you used the wizard to set things up, there would not have been a need to do the fix. Maybe you did it manually? Somewhere along the line I learned that guitar is notated an octave lower than it sounds in real life (or the other way around- my brain is not functioning right now, but I think I got it right!)
My husband plays Classical Guitar, & when I transcribe, listening to an audio recording & use simple or speedy entry, setting my keyboard to nylon guitar to match the sound, I remember that I had to transpose the octave it sounds at, yet the midi picked up the keys I actually depressed. He probably was the one who told me that fact.
(I am pleased at an opportunity to contribute a little FYI!)

Began composing Scripture Songs in 1988 - transcribing with pen & ink. In early 90's, began typing in lyrics on IBM selectric & then smith corona with auto-correct (moving up!) Dreamed of some kind of computer program that could allow me to make "real" sheet music myself, not needing to hire an engraver (wherever such an animal could be located) In 1995, attended a presentation advertised by a gentleman who wanted to begin a home-schooled children's band, using Finale to create the parts. Only two families attended. The other attendee turned out to be a custom computer builder. He gave me his card. In July 1996, a friend felt led to give me a sizeable financial gift to help my dream come true. Being computer illiterate & feeling vulnerable to salesman's pressures, was blessed to be able to have my first computer put together with components that met my specific needs, and to purchase a MIDI keyboard & this glorious software called Finale. Being a busy mother has made the job slow in transcribing the approx. 1000 songs I've written... but the time will come someday to e-publish the collection! The features in 2010 added since 2005 will help to speed up the process. | Back to Top | |

So, C third space sounds as Middle C (1st leger line below the staff). So the correct transposition setting is Octave Up in the Score manager in 2012, or Staff Attributes in 2011 and before.

P.S.: The problem with Finale is that you hear the written pitch upon entry, but the lower, correct pitch, upon playback. A bit confusing. Fortunately, the wizard sets it all up for you, as far as the correct transposition. "When all is said and done, more is said than done."

I just strum the chords with no regard to printed notation in my own personal guitar experience!
