I have a satisfactory fermata using JWtempo plug in, but I would like a short silence before starting the next section. Musicians will do this naturally, but how do I get this playback effect without writing in a rest? (F2k2b in W98 interface to sound banks)
Probably in knowledge base somewhere but my search failed.

Probably the easiest way is to shorten the
playback duration of the held note to 90%
or so. I don't have Finale on the computer
I'm using at this moment but I believe it's
in MIDI Tool > MIDI Menu > Edit Note
Durations, or something close to that.
