Can you supply a link to the font you say OCTO provided? That would be great. [Edit] I found the R & L Andale fonts from OCTO, also the one from Wess-Music. Thanks. For anyone else interested: http://forum.makemusic.com/default.aspx?f=6&p=1&m=278511I did not know this topic of rotating group names or staff names had been discussed at length before.
I tried Octo's 90 degree rotated font, but it is a bit too stylized for my score. I usually stick to (go ahead, excoriate me) Times New Roman for text indications (that or Bodoni). Octo's font looks really cool and it was a breeze to make a staff group with the rotated name (I used "Soli" in my case, it's a triple concerto), but again, it clashes with all the other text in the score.
Does anyone know if there's a 90 degree rotated Times new Roman ttf somewhere? Finale (started with ver. 3.0) using 2012 (2014 has been shelved for its lack of support for older Garritan libraries), putting Finale 25 through its paces. Windows 8.1 basically ALL Garritan libraries, plus XSample Chamber Ensemble.

Andale font is mono-spaced. It means that all symbols are equally wide, so when rotating them, they have all equal height. With Times New Roman it is not the same thing. It would mean that one who creates that font must copy each symbol's width into new height. I am not sure how to do it, or if it is possible at all (I tried it in FontForge). AFAIK, each font has the fixed height (=for all symbols). With Wess-Music's font one must compensate that difference in heights by spacing symbols very carefully.

The link seems to be dead in his post : forum.makemusic.com/default.aspx?f=6&p=2&m=278511 I can't post the file here, zip is not accepted. Update : this link seems to work : /app.box.com/shared/2dsq53uqib I hope it is usable on a PC...
