Article #19497 in Allegro Tech support recommends reverting to Quicktime 4.1.2 if Quicktime 5.x produces garbled playback sound. Another alternative is to use the Quicktime Updater supplied with Quicktime 5.x. I ran this, rebooted, and the playback fidelity for Finale Allegro was restored.

Did the updater solve the problem
permanently? I'm wondering if it's
possible that rebooting solved the
problem temporarily.
