Hi,

did anybody try to use the bravura-font with Finale 2012? Is it possible?

Not completely. Currently, Finale cannot alter the characters used for time signatures. The Bravura font does not use the ASCI number character slots 1 to 9 for its time signature glyphs (or anything). Also, the SMuFL standard position for whole note rests is lower (or higher?) than Finale expects. These also can't be altered in Finale.

The same is true for 2014. The only commercial SMuFL font, November, includes Finale characters in "legacy" character locations, as well as the SMuFL characters, so it can be used by Finale correctly.

You can of course set Finale to use Maestro (or other font) for Rests and Time Signatures, then Bravura for everything else. You'll need to create your own Bravura Default document, changing all the symbols to the different characters used in the SMuFL spec. It doesn't take as long as you might think. ;-)

November is not without problems in Sibelius though.......shame.
When I purchase fonts it is with the wish to be able to use them fully in either program.

From what I understand, that's not the fault of the font. smilewinkgrin

Yes. It's Sibelius' fault. I don't hold out hope that they will fix it anytime this decade.
Avid milking a good program.

.... when I try to choose a special notehead from Bravura I get this..... only letters, numbers, etc., but no musical signs :-(

Maybe some hidden program-settings? Or problems with windows 7?

... I think maybe it's a problem of my system. I use Windows 7. When I try the character map it looks like that:

But, very intersting, when I use Nexus Font it looks like it should. And also with open office it works as it should....

I would advice against using SMuFL on Finale 2012. Finale 2012 doesn't support FAN files for the full Unicode range. (Finale 2014 does however.)
