I have Finale 98 loaded onto a Windows XP OS using the Yamaha UX16.  It seems device is working but when I log onto Finale 98 I cannot use the MIDI Setup option under "MIDI".  I am not able to use Speedy Entry as the synth pitch is not being read by Finale.  Any advice?  I downloaded updated drivers, ran tests, everything seems to work except for the MIDI Setup... option

Lyn L,

When you go to MIDI Setup, what do you see as an Input Device? Do you have the UX16 plugged directly into a USB port on the computer or a Hub? MIDI does not work that well (I would say even not supported) through a USB hub.

Tech support will have an application called ExpLab that they can use to test if your computer is recognizing the MIDI Interface at all. This will help determine if it is a Finale issue, or an issue with this interface being read by the computer.

Please try this article as well and see if this will help: makemusic.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/858

You may want to look at upgrading (since you are on Windows XP) to a version of Finale that would be supported on Windows XP.  Upgrading from your version is pretty inexpensive, and I would suggest it.  I would also suggest finishing any projects that are IN PROGRESS in the current version you have and then starting new projects in the new version - if you choose to upgrade.
