Can you export an audio file as anything other than wav when you use the garritan instruments as playback?using 2012, soon to be 25

You can always use Audacity and Lame to convert .wav to .mp3 and the like. I find this the easiest.

Export to wav then use any of the dozens of free wav to mp3 converters available free of charge--many with tools for fine control of the resulting mp3 file. I am glad that MakeMusic doesn't waste their resources on this as it has been done better by so many others already.

The answer to your question is no.  WAV is the only format supported by Finale for Garritan sounds.
