Greetings!
When using automatic Rehearsal Letters, is there any way of creating the sequence to automatically carry on with Aa, Bb, Cc after Z, or are we stuck with AA, BB, CC?
Many thanks
Andreo Basisto

Many thanks for your reply. Your link mentions the Aa-Bb-Cc sequence but doesn't say how it's achieved! Elsewhere there's mention of upper case/lower case and even a aA-bB-cC sequence, so now I'm even more curious.
Shortly after posting, I came up with one possibility. After X,Y, Z, go back to A, B, C and, in addition, use a, b, c with an additional horizontal offset positoning of 0.7. This means I’ll have to forgo the square enclosure shape, though….

Andreo,
It is possible to use auto sequencing to accomplish aA, aB, aC, ..., or Aa, Ab, Ac, ..., but not Aa, Bb, Cc, ... . That will have to be done manually like David Ward's link implied, I think.
As I learned from this forum not too long ago, you can actually add any textual prefix and/or suffix to the automatic sequencing as supplied by MM. Just duplicate any given sequence in the "Expression Selection" dialog box, and add whatever prefix and/or suffix you desire within the Text area box. It is not obvious that you can do this, but it does work. In my example above I prefixed an "a" to the standard A, B, C, ..., sequence, then I prefixed an "A" to the standard a, b, c, ..., sequence. By doing this, any enclosure you setup will be maintained.

You can try a combination approach: create an expression with the box stretched to the right and then manually add in the other character. Personally, that is more wotk than manually creating the marks. We have done that for years and still works.

Using my attached file, use the first item in the list for letters up to Z. Then, starting with the next one, apply the next item, then the one after that in the same measure. The enclosure for the Capital letter is stretched to include the lower case letter that doesn't have an enclosure.
This file was made in haste. You may want to fine tune the enclosure if it is not precisely to your liking.

Many thanks for these various responses to my question. I now see that David’s earlier thread referred only to ‘Aa’ which I assumed would carry on with Bb, Cc. Thanks to Charles, I have realised my error there.
Yes, it is possible to create these markings manually, but the piece I’m working on at the moment goes up to Xx and I have to keep to that sequence.
I cannot open Zuill’s file as I have F2011. However, I have managed to stretch the enclosure box by setting the width to 0.75 in the dialog box for the upper case letter. I also entered 0.3 in the H: centre dialog box to move the letter to the right. That gives me space for the lower case letter, which by keeping my settings as in my 2nd posting this thread, means the two letters are now side by side. So, yes, two actions, but thanks to Zuill I still have my enclosure box!
Motet – Yes, I use metatool M for the upper case and N for the lower case, so that’s easily accomplished.

Thanks again.

After reading of your finding, I did some experimenting and discovered that all rehearsal marks in the same measure are affected by editing of just one, so they all move to the same respective position in the sequence. I could think that there might conceivably be an occasion where you don't want that behavior. The workaround is to move the mark to another measure, make the change, then move it back to the proper measure. For your use, however, the behavior is ideal.
