I thought harp glissandi used to respond to the first octave's pitches being defined (via grace notes?). When did that break? Or did I just forget how to make it work?

I believe it does. But HP can be fickle. If you can post a sample file that doesn't work, we might be able to help.

I've always found it easier to make a 7tuplet of the notes I wanted.

Finale (started with ver. 3.0) using 2012 (2014 has been shelved for its lack of support for older Garritan libraries), putting Finale 25 through its paces.
Windows 8.1
basically ALL Garritan libraries, plus XSample Chamber Ensemble.

That sounds familiar; how did you then extend it to reach the rythmic placement of the final note?

Zuill, thank you for the offer to check, but this was just a couple of test measures I created to test something I read elsewhere.

7tuplet (usually of 32nd notes) -- hidden rests (to fill in value until end note) ------------- end note.
