I went to the MakeMusic downloads and I can't find a PDK release since 2000?  Is this the current one?  I thought they had made changes since then.  Just wondering... thanks!

Yes, they have made changes (and some significant ones), but the updated files are not being publicly released through their web site.

This is unfortunate and probably represents the economic reality that they will not be able to generature future revenue if what they might bring to market as new features is already provided by a another source (3rd party developers). This model is not unique to Finale, but software that has matured in the development cycle. The downside of this paradigm is that it stifles innovation such as you might offer. I keep thinking if MakeMusic could expand its vision of what profitable opportunies there are in the music market place (look at the tablature screen annoucements/patent battles) they could use their current position to propel themselves into other areas that would generate new renevues and not cause them to be reluctant to promote innovation in their core product. In the meantime their core product could be improved with outside innovation thereby securing their dominance in the notation software market. When I am met with "Well, I use Sibelius" from colleagues, I just shake my head and think that Sibelius is the child of what Coda Music either failed to asses in the past or would not risk to undertake. It's my impression there is new blood or money behind Finale and perhaps the decision makers might want to reassess their current policy about oustide innovation.

Sorry John, I don't think your assumption is correct.

The only issue here is that MakeMusic has not publically released a PDK since the 2000 PDK. Please refer to the posts made in the findpk group for further info.

Best regards,
