I hope I can come up with a better
solution from you folk about putting a
tempo range in a score than the one I
came up with. I want to put in my score a
tempo indication of (quarter note )=
184-200. When I try to do this with the
tempo plug in the dash is not recognized
and comes out 184200. When I try to edit
in the expressions tool the dash key and
the shift dash key produce a dash on the
base line (Petrucci). I can't get it vertically
centered. I have used two work arounds
that are not satisfactory, 1 is to use the
option W key which produces a fat dash
that is centered. 2. I create just a dash in
another font and then hand center it
between the numbers. Has anyone come
up with a solution to this problem?

You should use another font for these indications. For example, try the range of EngraverText fonts. Alternatively, you could try the Bach font that you can get off the net, or even the free Tempo Indications Lite font from http://www.hindson.com
Whatever you decide, I wouldn't use the built-in numbers in Petrucci or Maestro. Looks very ugly.

I agree with Matthew.
A small tip for the 3 Engraver Text fonts:
Engraver Text H looks like Helvetica
Engraver Text NCS looks New Century Schoolbook
Engraver Text T looks like Times

Another solution is to create the tempo
marking as a shape, rather than a text
expression. This way, you can mix and
match fonts. Its a little tricky at first, but
once you get the hang of it, its very handy.
And when you have a new tempo
marking, you can just duplicate the
existing one and change it.
