do you mean you want to create "cross staff notes" ?

insert the notes all on one staff (i prefer the first one (= above)), then: note mover tool - note mover menu - cross staff notes (or something like that). then just select all notes you want to move, drag them down to the requested staff.
if the beam isn't like you want it, use the special tools palette - beam mover.
