I am trying to scan music from an HP 1315 into PRINT MUSIC and PRINT MUSIC says it cannot recognize format. Will the HP 1315 not work with PRINT MUSic? Also tiff file was not an option when saving the file when scanned.  Any help  or suggestions?

I just went to a conference and they showed the wonders of both Finale and SmartMusic.  He specifically said that HP scanning technology is not compatible with Finale (and then SmartMusic).  He suggested to go buy a $50 canon scanner which (he said) works flawlessly in Finale.  Hope this helps

The biggest issue is that the HP scanning software often won't let you save a file in the correct format (black and white, uncompressed TIF file). If your program won't let you save it in this format, you can probably use a program called Irfanview to convert it. Download it at www.irfanview.com. Open your file in Irfanview, then go to File >> Save As and specify the type to be TIFF. Save the file and choose the appropriate options.

Scanning results can vary a lot depending on the original document, the type of music and the scanning options you choose (size, darkness, resolution, etc.)
