Might there be an easy way of creating tempo markings that contain both text and graphic elements?
for example: Andante con bullcrappo (q)=92
(obviously, the q represents a quarter note in this case)
I guess I'm a traditionalist, I like to use the Italian tempo indications along with my numerical tempo markings.

You can use EngraverText to achieve q=120 (the q in engraver text is a quarter note).
I think though that to achieve the preceeding text, you will need to use a separate measure expression.

In addition to JazzText which comes with Finale, there are a number of 3rd party fonts that contain both text and musical characters to make these types of expressions. MetTimes is one example of a commercial font; there also some freeware and shareware fonts that do this. Check the links page on the Coda site to find out more.

I'd love to check the links page on the Coda website... if I could find it.
Where exactly did they hide the links?

When Coda updated their web site, they temporarily removed the links page. They said they would check the links out before restoring them. This was a few weeks ago, however and I'm not sure why they're not up yet. Coda?
