When I try to open some files in SmartMusic that I have created in Finale, I get an error message saying: While attempting to access "EnigmaTemp4189862" the file manager reported an error."

After clicking OK about a dozen times, the file will open and play fine, except that error message will come up again if I switch to a different instrument part. Any suggestions?

FYI, I'm running SmartMusic 2011 on a MacBook OS 10.5.8.

Thanks!

ChicagoMike,

Welcome to the forum! This specific error is a problem with the Finale file and it's easy to fix. open the .MUS file in Finale, go into the Document Menu, Manage Parts, and click Generate Parts. Double-check your Finale file again to make sure it looks okay, then you can re-export it to SmartMusic format. Before you try opening the file into SmartMusic, look at your My Accompaniments list in My Library. If you see the file already here, right-click it and click Remove before you try importing the new version.

Thanks!

Thanks, James. It's working correctly for me now. Is there any way to do this in the future without losing all my formatting in the parts?

ChicagoMike,

This is a pretty rare problem in Finale - if you encounter it again, the solution I've listed is the only way to fix it. Hopefully the problem is limited to this file so you don't have to worry about part formatting again!

Thanks,

James Lund
