I'm copying a 19th c. score that beams both the 8th and 16th beam over a 32nd rest. (See "Desired-Beaming.png.). I've tried all combination of beaming defaults to make it happen automatically, without having an ugly lengthened beam extending over the rest from the 32nd note. That hasn't worked, so I've had to revert to the default of no beaming over rests, and then manually (with Special Tools) extending the 16th beam. A lot of time wasted. Can anyone suggest a more efficient work-around?

Thanks!
Arnold

Here's a file that shows 2 other ways to accomplish the goal. I can't say which would be the easiest. The 'How To" is part of the puzzle.

Zuill

P.S. My 32nd beam stubs aren't exactly the same length, but that is irrelevant.

P.P.S.: I fixed the file as the last note was supposed to be an 8th. Oops.
