In both 2014.5 and Fin 25, it really doesn't seem like the spacing option works at all in the Page Formats for Parts dialogue box.

I'm trying to set things up so that I don't have to manually respace EVERY part. But there doesn't seem to be any difference made by any number that I type into the "Distance Between Systems" box in the dialogue. If I type in 1, and I have a part open, I actually do see the spacing get bigger, but when I close the dialogue it jumps back to its regular, super-cramped size.

I am hitting generate parts after every adjustment. Am I missing some key step?

Generating parts will wipe out any adjustments you make. Only use it one time, when all note entry is completed and before you start working on parts.

I get that. My problem is: It does absolutely nothing. Ever. No matter what.

System spacing in the parts works for me without any problems.

I wonder why it does not work for you.
To find the culprit we may need to see an empty template from you.
I suggest that you attach the template here.

I assume you are "hitting" something else. What is it?

No - what I am saying is that I am trying to find the right distance - so I actually AM regenerating after every adjustment. And I'm finding it does nothing.

I'll upload a template when I can, but right now I'm just working - it's somewhat quick to respace per part, and the spacing does need to be somewhat different for each part, and each page. Not sure how much time this feature would save me.

(obviously I'm no longer regenerating now that I'm actually editing parts...)

I have the same problem. Some of the parts are spaced properly, others from the same score will have wide spaces between systems that I have to manually adjust. I've set up templates with the parts and score page format to my settings, but seem to get this random behavior.

WHICH dialogue? It had better be the Define Page Format dialogue box, and NOT the Adjust System Margins dialogue box. The latter WILL be wiped in favour of the setting in the Define Page Format when you generate parts.

This might be the "space systems evenly" setting in the manage parts dialog box. When this setting is checked, Finale will space your systems evenly, whether there are 3 systems on a page or 10. This can lead to huge amounts of white space between systems.
